Ultimately, The Thursday Club is a portrait of a generation. The opening
questions about a riot in 1967 lead to a tribute to the characters, and
to the experiences they shared. When asked about his own feelings about
these former enemies—the officers he faced on the street in 1967,
filmmaker George Csicsery says, "For me, it's not a question of going
from one side to the other. I find that I accummulate loyalties rather
than shedding old ones for new ones. Working on this film has given me
new respect, particularly for the individuals who opened up to tell me
their stories. I owe them a great deal. Besides, there's no one better
at spinning yarns than an old cop. And that's gold for any filmmaker."
