October 1, 2019 - Zala Films producer/director George Csicsery announces the publication of Marika Somogyi's autobiography, A Charmed Life, now available on Amazon and Kindle. George Csicsery is the book's editor. Marika Somogyi's experiences during the Holocaust and afterwards form key sections of the documentary film, Angel of Mercy, a biography of Sister Margit Slachta, scheduled for completion by 2021.

A Charmed Life, Marika Somogyi's adventure-packed memoir, starts with an ideal childhood in Budapest that is cruelly interrupted by the Holocaust. By age eight, she is living under an assumed name in a remote Hungarian village, sheltered by an order of Catholic nuns dedicated to saving Jewish children. She survives World War II only to return home to life under a Communist regime that soon jails her father and nearly condemns her to exile. Saved by love and marriage, she pursues life in the art world. The failed Hungarian Revolution of 1956 convinces Marika and her husband, László, to flee Hungary first for Austria and then to seek a new home in America. Life in the United States brings children and grandchildren and great success as an internationally acclaimed sculptor and medalist. A Charmed Life is inspirational reading for anyone who doubts that love and beauty can prevail over the forces of evil. (ISBN: 9781790778164) (View a flyer about the book.)
